My son S, now 7 3/4 has started say 'I'm bored!' A LOT On Friday, I counted 7 'I'm bored!' That was from when he got home from school.
My stock answers are 'children are supposed to be bored, it makes you imaginative' and 'when we were kids we were bored through the whole of the 80s'. He doesn't think either of these are funny.
So, inspired by something I saw on pintrest (sorry would link back but I didn't pin it) on Saturday morning, I made a BORED JAR.
Take 1 empty Kilner jar
Write on strips of paper different activities, here are the ones I used
Dance Make a sock puppet Make an obstacle course Colour in a colouring book Play hide and seek Play a board game Draw something Interview a family member
And others that are not so fun (for him!) Help with dinner Weed the garden Clean the chickens out Vacuum a room Clean your bedroom Water the plants
So, whenever he says 'I'm bored!' He has to take a piece of paper out of the jar and do what is on the paper.
On Saturday he watered the plants and helped with tea. Great for me!
S also added into the jar 'watch Dr Who' I thought I would let him include that one.
Lets see if it cures him.
