I love being outdoors, and growing an nurturing things I get a real sense of achievement and joy from.
Now we have children, the garden has been changed so it is more 'child friendly' and we really haven't had much time to dedicate to it.
Over the years we have grown a lot of flowers and vegetables, but in the last few we have done very little, this year is going to be different!
This is what we planted:
Vegetables - Wild Rocket, Mixed lettuce, Peas, Cress, Pumpkins, Tomatoes (free packet!), Sweetcorn
Flowers - Morning glory (chortle *grow up*) poppies (free packet) Echinacea, sunflower, sweet pea, verbena and poached eggs
Some of these are my all time favorites so can not wait to see these grow -echinacea, sweet peas (have to be highly fragrant) and verbena, genuinely make me feel truly happy and give my heart a skippity skip when I see them in full flower.
I thought I would let the kids do the planting of the seeds, we used biodegradable pots so we can just plant them in the ground instead of pricking out and faffing about.
We had a lovely time looking at the variety of seeds and how we needed to plant them differently depending on the size, I just wrote the labels and opened the packets.
They are now watered and on our bedroom windowsill as this room gets good light.
Lets hope they grow and make it through to flowering.
