This week, I am not exploring a garden.. I am exploring woodland.
On Saturday the kids and I went on a fungus foray. It was run by our local council they had two people from the council countryside team, and two people from Halifax scientific society It was a free event, and was absolutely brilliant, we all really enjoyed it.
We were given sheets and cards with mushroom pictures on, and then we walked into the woods to start looking for fungi.
The people taking the session were brilliant, and really took the time to engage with the families taking part. Encouraged picking of fungi to explore and look at, they talked through in detail what we had found.
And here is what we found.
We took home a lot of the fungi that C had collected, so we looked at them and cut them open when we got home
Such a great time, I would really recommend if you have one in your local area - go and explore.
