We have been to IWM North before see here and had a great time before, so we were really looking forward to our visit.
IWM North is a great free resource for parents and children, and over the half term holidays (Sat 26th Oct 13 - Sun 3rd Nov 13) they have so much going on.
Calling all sketchers, scribblers and doodlers!
When visiting IWM North over the school holidays, you can take part in The Big Draw 2013, and you can take part a few ways.
In the open studio they have The Big Draw sessions and are showing some of the collections that you can sketch. This is what we took part in, and the kids really enjoyed it.
On Thursday 31st Oct they are hosting a monoprint workshop with Annabel Dover which is free but you will need to book, take a look here
Also in your visit you can watch The Big Picture show which is in the main exhibition space and is showing Horrible Histories Rotten Rationing, it is brilliant! The film is projected onto every surface of the exhibition space, it is fascinating - like nothing you have seen before.
The main exhibition space is great and really geared towards children and interactivity.
So, for a free school holiday day out, I would recommend going to IWM North. Here is the full programme for the school holidays.
